Amish

Amish is an Indian author whose novels bring mythology, history and philosophy into the pace and scale of popular fiction. He began his publishing journey in 2010 with The Immortals of Meluha, transforming Lord Shiva into the human hero of an imagined ancient world. The book became the opening volume of the Shiva Trilogy and introduced the storytelling style that would define his work: cinematic adventure grounded in questions about faith, duty, leadership and good and evil.

He continued exploring India’s epics through the Ram Chandra Series. Rather than following a single hero from beginning to end, the series approaches the story through the intersecting lives of Ram, Sita and Raavan before bringing their journeys together in War of Lanka. His Indic Chronicles, including Legend of Suheldev and The Chola Tigers, turn to figures and conflicts from Indian history.

His writing also extends beyond fiction. Immortal India gathers his reflections on India and its civilisation, while Dharma and Idols consider ideas drawn from the epics, philosophy and religious practice. Across genres, he presents ancient traditions as living conversations—open to interpretation, debate and contemporary meaning.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Amish worked in financial services. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Minister for Culture and Education at the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom and as Director of The Nehru Centre in London, helping present Indian arts and culture to audiences abroad.

Amish is also a broadcaster and documentary host. His programmes explore subjects including the Ramayana, Shiva, faith and Indian history. Together, his books and screen work have made him a widely recognised interpreter of Indian stories for modern audiences.
