These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Koottar platform, including our website, mobile app and all related services ("the Service"). By registering or using Koottar you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
Koottar is a hyperlocal book-sharing platform. We connect readers who wish to lend, borrow, swap or give away books with others nearby. We are a facilitator — we do not own, hold or physically handle any books.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Koottar. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are legally capable of entering into these Terms.
Koottar is built on the principle of community sharing. Book owners must not charge money in exchange for lending a book. Listings may be set to:
Any user found charging money for lending a book will have their account suspended. Koottar reserves the right to remove any listing that implies a monetary charge for lending.
Koottar facilitates connections between book owners and readers. We are not a party to the exchange itself. All exchanges happen offline, face to face at a Koottar Space or agreed location. Koottar is not responsible for:
Once a book exchange is agreed through Koottar's chat, the book owner may request the contact details (name and phone number) of the borrower to facilitate the in-person meetup. By using Koottar, you consent to this contact sharing as part of completing a confirmed exchange.
For lending arrangements with agreed return dates, Koottar will send automated reminder messages to both parties as the return date approaches. These reminders are a courtesy — Koottar cannot enforce returns and is not liable for unreturned books. Users are encouraged to resolve disputes amicably.

Koottar Space partners are independent businesses. The deals and discounts they offer are at their own discretion and may change without notice. Koottar does not guarantee the availability of any deal listed on the platform. Any dispute with a Space partner regarding their offer should be resolved directly with that venue.
Bookstores listed on Koottar are responsible for the accuracy of their inventory, pricing and availability information. Koottar displays this information in good faith but cannot guarantee it is current. Pricing and stock are subject to change without notice by the bookstore.
All content on the Koottar platform — including the name, logo, design, code and original text — is owned by or licensed to Koottar. You may not reproduce, copy or distribute any part of the platform without written permission.
Book covers, titles and descriptions displayed on the platform are the property of their respective publishers and authors. We display these under fair use principles for the purpose of book identification.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Koottar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or any book exchange facilitated through it, including but not limited to loss of or damage to books, failure of a user to return a book, or disputes between users.
Koottar provides the platform "as is" and makes no warranties regarding uptime, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms, with or without notice. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@koottar.com.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes arising from your use of Koottar shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of UAE.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Koottar after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
